If you enjoy 2D platformers with a beat ’em up twist, you’ll really enjoy Dan The Man. Let’s get started with our Dan The Man strategy guide!

1. Focus on one character!

There are no statistical differences between Dan, Josie, and the custom hero. Play as whoever you like! One thing to keep in mind though is that upgrades bought remain exclusive to that character. Upgrades are not shared and if you want to use another character, you’ll have to buy the upgrades again. Because of this, it’s better to focus on one hero’s upgrades. It’s easier on your wallet!

2. Stay mobile!

You can use your standard combo to dispatch the small fry, but be careful if there are multiple enemies. It’s best to resort to hit and run tactics if there are more than about three enemies near you. You can also utilize your down kick to knock back enemies for some breathing room. Multiple enemies can become weapons if you have the advanced grab n’ throw upgrade, which lets you throw enemies into each other.

3. Try out some combos!

Try mixing and matching your skills after you’ve unlocked a couple. You might find effective combos to take care of enemies quickly! One of our favorites is a flying kick followed by an uppercut. First, you’ll need to unlock high kick and uppercut. Jump towards an enemy with a high kick – remember that a high kick can still connect with enemies on the ground. Immediately after the high kick lands, move towards the enemy to grab them and kick to unleash an uppercut. This is an extremely quick combo that does 60 damage!

4. Save your coins for upgrades!

It might be tempting to buy some ranged weapons in mid level shops, but resist the urge! It’s better to save your coins for your skill upgrades. If you’re in a bind and you need a pick-me-up, you can buy some food to restore your health.

5. Utilize your entire skillset!

Some of your moves are better suited for taking out specific enemies. For example, a charged Power Attack can pierce right through the goons that have shields. Take advantage of all of your moves to take out enemies efficiently!

6. Beat up all enemies and explore!

At the end of every level you will gain points depending on how many enemies you defeated. Try to beat them all up for a better score! Also, once you’ve cleared an area of enemies, try exploring and looking around before you move on. As you learn during the tutorial, there are secret areas hidden around. They contain lots of treasure and healing items, so it’s worth your time to look for them.
