Getting things to stand upright is difficult—just ask Addison in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, who has some serious issues with gravity and signs that he’s trying to put up. Poor fellow… he’s just stuck there, afraid of letting go of his signpost because he knows it will collapse as soon as he takes his hands off of it.
And Link wouldn’t be Link if he didn’t try to help. However, you don’t get any clear instructions on what you need to do to complete this little task and relieve Addison of his exhausting duty. In this guide, we show you how to help Addison in Tears of the Kingdom, so he can finally let go and you can earn some neat rewards for your good deeds.

How to help Addison in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
The key to helping Addison keep his signs upright is all about fundamental physics. You need to find a way to support the sign that Addison is holding, and the best way to do so is by crafting a supporting structure from the materials lying close by.
When you talk to Addison, scan your surroundings and try to find something that you can use. This problem doesn’t require any fancy solutions or contraptions: grabbing two planks or boards using your Ultrahand power and attaching them at a right angle is enough. While you can just grab one plank and lay it on the ground, you have to grab and rotate the other one to join the two at 90 degrees.
The only thing left to do is to move your supporting structure, so that the sign Addison is holding can lean onto the vertical part of your creation. Talk to Addison again and tell him to let go. When he sees that the sign stays upright, he will give you some useful goodies like money, food, and different ingredients.
You encounter Addison several times on your way through Hyrule. While this solution should work for most of Addison’s tasks, you may have to tweak it a bit in more complex situations—just remember to test how the sign falls and build a structure that will prevent it.
We hope you have fun with this physics-based challenge! If you get stuck in some other part of the game, check out more useful guides in our dedicated Tears of the Kingdom section!
