Peter Molyneux and his team took the world by storm with god game Godus, a title that has a huge following already, but many who criticize it as well. No matter what side you’re in, you might want to know some great games like Godus to play while you wait for your buildings to be ready or followers to be born again after losing them to the Astari tribe. If that’s the case, the mobile market doesn’t have a huge list of god games on offer, but we did search some that are at least in concept similar and you can check them out below.
So here are the 10 best games like Godus for the iPhone and iPad, with download links:
Pocket God
On a remote island, you are the all-powerful god that rules over the primitive islanders. You can bring new life, and then take it away just as quickly. Exercise your powers on the islanders. Lift them in the air, alter gravity, hit them with lightning… you’re the island god! If you haven’t played this game already, you should do so now. Click here to download the game.
The Sandbox
Start from scratch with basic building blocks like stone, water and soil. Grow plants, raise mountains, generate life and gain access to advanced tools for crafting more and more complex elements. Before long, you’ll be able to access non-organic elements like metal and light bulbs, allowing you to populate your universe with creations both natural and technological. An extremely complex game with huge options – one that will suck you in instantly. Check it out here.
Tribes
As the God of your tribe you must protect and lead your people to victory over the other three competing tribes. Flatten the land so your peasants can find space to build settlements, and with the power that they give to you rain down disasters on your enemies’ heads. Check out the game here.
Dungeon Keeper
Build the ultimate underground lair and summon diabolical forces to do your bidding. It’s tower defense… without the tower… and a lot more offensive! So not exactly your classic God Game, but nevertheless a legendary title for your mobile. It’s free, so give it a try here.
Virtual Villagers: Origins
Care for and nurture a tribe of little people by teaching them the basics of survival. Grow a small village in your computer: your little villagers have food needs, housing needs, technologies to research and diseases to fight! As the village grows and prospers, the villagers become curious about their mysterious island home and the secrets it holds. Aside from guiding the villagers’ day-to-day lives, help them explore and restore the island. How will you lead your tribe? Find out by downloading the game here.
Artificial Life HD
Watch life evolve in the palm of your hand! Oddly hypnotic and relaxing, Artificial Life is a simulation of the growth and evolution of microorganisms – basically artificial life forms. Initially, each organism is given a random set of rules governing its behavior. If the rules end up being useful for survival, the organism may live long enough to mate with another organism and pass its genetic code on to some offspring. A really interesting game! Civilization Revolution 2
More strategy than regular God game, Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution 2 challenges players to build a glorious empire that will stand the test of time. This is the first game in the Civilization catalog to be developed and available exclusively for mobile devices. A great experience in one of the most popular series of all times. Check it out here.
Simcity Deluxe
One of the most popular, if not THE city builder of all times, SimCity has made it to the iOS systems and it’s bigger and better than you probably remember it. Optimized for Retina display and featuring an extremely complex gameplay, this title will keep you busy for hours. Click here to check it out.
Spore Origins
Not really the original Spore with all its godlike goodness, but still a title worth playing, at least in order to remember how great the PC version really is (any maybe upgrade to it, for a complete God game). In this title, you’ll mostly explore and solve puzzles directly controlling your creature. Still nice, so check it out here.
The Sims FreePlay
Probably one of the best known franchises in gaming, this still remains a solid simulation on mobile devices. Design your dream house in the game and make sure that your Sims are always happy. All for free, right here.
There you have it: 10 best games like Godus. Don’t expect them to be that similar (in the term of sculpting land and destroying the Astari), but great alternatives to the God game, strategy and simulation genre.
