Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released last month after much fanfare and hype. It is the latest installment in the Pokémon series and takes a much different turn than its predecessors do in terms of storytelling and game mechanics.
The game takes place in the ancient Hisui region, which would become modern-day Sinnoh. Fighting and capturing Pokémon is drastically different with battles taking place on the overworld instead of turn-based instance battles, as was the staple of the series thus far.
While fighting Pokémon in the overworld, players may come across Pokémon that look a little bit different than normal. These are Shiny Pokémon and are highly coveted by trainers and collectors alike. So how do you get them?
Shiny Pokémon
The first thing that players would notice is that Shiny Pokémon have color variations from the original. Although their stats are not affected, they are incredibly rarer to encounter, which is what makes them so coveted.
Knowing these details, the natural questions that players ask are:
1. Can every Pokémon be Shiny?
2. Do Shiny Legendary Pokémon exist?
When Shiny Pokémon come into question, players have asked if the namesake Pokémon of the game, the deity of the Pokémon world, Arceus, can also be Shiny. Read on to find out!
How to get Shiny Arceus
Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus have a 1/4096 chance of spawning. Through various means, those odds can be increased to 1/512.
Shiny Pokémon can be encountered through various means:
- Overworld encounters
- Mass outbreaks
- Space-time distortion fields
These methods work for encountering all the normal Pokémon in this game, but what about Arceus and the other Legendary Pokémon?
Unfortunately, Legendary Pokémon are still Shiny-locked in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. We predict that future events will allow players to acquire these Shiny Legendaries one by one, and with a little patience, trainers and collectors alike will be able to acquire them!
