Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released last month after much fanfare and hype. It is the latest installment in the Pokémon series and takes a much different turn than its predecessors do in terms of storytelling and game mechanics.
The game takes place in the ancient Hisui region, which would become modern-day Sinnoh. Fighting and capturing Pokémon is drastically different with battles taking place on the overworld instead of turn-based instance battles, as was the staple of the series thus far.
Alpha Pokémon make their debut in Pokémon Legends: Arceus and have already been posing a challenge for most players to fight and capture. Today, we will be going over one of the Alpha Pokémon that can be encountered: Basculin.
Alpha Basculin
Basculin is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation 5’s games of Pokémon Black and White. While not necessarily being a fan-favorite of many players, it got a shine in the spotlight in Pokémon Legends: Arceus for two reasons.
One reason being, Basculin has a Hisuian evolution called Basculegion! Formerly a one-stage Pokémon, Basculegion changes all of that in Hisui. The second reason is the intense Alpha Basculin that can be encountered in Fabled Spring, a guide to which can be found here.
These are great for players entirely focused on training! But collectors have been left wondering – Can Alpha Basculin be Shiny?
Shiny Alpha Basculin?
From everything we have learned via our own experiences playing Pokémon Legends: Arceus as well as player feedback, we have accepted that Alpha Pokémon can indeed be Shiny! Since that is the case, there is in fact a positive chance for players to turn the Alpha Basculin encounter into a rare Shiny Alpha encounter!
We recommend players to fully complete Basculin’s research tasks in the Pokédex, equip the Shiny Charm (which already requires a completed Pokédex, so they go hand in hand) and head to Fabled Spring for the guaranteed Alpha spawn for best results. Save and restart the game till you get one!
