The Steam Deck has been on everyone’s radar ever since its announcement back in July last year. After generating a ton of hype, the handheld PC will soon be launching on February 25, 2022; while Valve has revealed almost everything about the Steam Deck specification and working-wise, some unresolved queries still persist. One such question is whether a PC is required to play on/with Steam Deck or not.
Do I need a PC to Play Steam Deck?
The answer is No. Steam Deck is a handheld device that comes with its own in-built chip, OS, a “premium anti-glare etched glass” capacitive multi-touch display and controller, meaning you can play games without the need of a PC. It also has support for Bluetooth and will let users connect their controllers, headsets, keyboards, and even a mouse.
The Steam Deck can also download games just as you would on a PC using the Steam store. Once a game is installed, you can fire it up without an internet connection (multiplayer games will need internet access nonetheless). Furthermore, Valve has even said that the Steam Deck will feature a quick-resume-style function called Dynamic Cloud Sync, that as per Valve, allows players to “seamlessly move between Deck and PC instances of the game without needing to worry about exiting the game on the Steam Deck.”
