How to Defeat the Soldier of Godrick in Elden Ring on Steam Deck

This is one of the first bosses you’ll encounter in Elden Ring and is also one of the simplest to defeat. The Soldier of Godrick serves as a tutorial that teaches players how to counterattack in the game.

Despite his little health, the Soldier of Godrick can catch you off guard if you fail to block or evade during his attacks. Also, you can decide not to fight this boss by not entering the Stranded Graveyard at the early stages of the game and just head into the Elden Ring region of Limgrave instead.

However, if you do decide to face the Soldier of Godrick, we’ll be guiding you on how to do just that.

First off, always block his attacks and counters. This will likely leave him stunned, and you can attack while he recovers from a swing. So simply hold your shield up if you have one and block all of his incoming attacks.

That way you can perform a Guard Counter that’ll take away a massive portion of the bosses’ health bar. You can keep repeating the Guard Counter process, or attack him normally.

Defeating the Soldier of Godrick is a simple task, and many players will probably figure it out on their own. After you’ve defeated the soldier, exit the cave, pick up the ‘Strength!’ and go to Limgrave to continue your journey.
