How to Learn the Thimblerig Shuffle in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery

In the Harry Potter universe, the Thimblerig Shuffle was a Quidditch strategy which was invented by a Quidditch player named Murphy McNully during the late 1900s. It was a strategy created in order to increase a player’s likelihood of making it on the Quidditch Team of their house.

Firstly, the Chasers begin flying in the Hawkshead Attacking Formation, then the Chaser in the center drops back so all three are in a row. Then, the three Chasers begin shuffling like shells in a game of Thimblerig while passing the Quaffle among them, which distracts the other team’s players trying to follow the Quaffle;  next, one of the Chasers flies above one of the others to simulate the Porskoff Ploy. At that point, the third Chaser, who no one is watching, is ultimately revealed to be the one holding the Quaffle and is open to score.

How to Learn the Thimblerig Shuffle in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery

It is during Quidditch Season 1 Chapter 4 that you begin the quest to learn the Thimblerig Shuffle. In the previous chapter, when Madam Hooch leaves your presence after Skye’s father gets injured, the Quidditch commentator approaches you and tells you that you’re going about Quidditch tryouts all wrong, and then leaves before you can ask him for clarity.

In order to continue this chain of quests, you will need to sit through a waiting period of five hours. The Quidditch chapters are not time-limited though, so let the timer run out and then proceed to the Commentary Box.

After getting through a lot of dialogue and non-consequential choices, head to The Great Hall. There, when you’re done playing Wizard Chess with Murphy, continue progressing the story until you make your way to the Quidditch Changing Room.

Here, get through some dialogue before Murphy finally teaches you the Thimblerig Shuffle!
