How to Complete the Lava Walker Achievement in Minecraft

Both the Java and Bedrock Editions of Minecraft have achievements for completionists to work towards. These achievements are designed to lead you through the game, so by the time you beat the Ender Dragon, you will have most of them. However, there are a couple that require you to go out of your way to get them, and today we’ll be looking at one such achievement, the Lava Walker achievement!

How to Complete the Lava Walker Achievement

There is no achievement in either version of Minecraft that is titled Lava Walker, though you do exactly that to get the achievement. The achievement is actually called Feels Like Home, and it is present in both the Java and Bedrock Editions.

In order to obtain this achievement, you’ll need to travel over 50 lava blocks in the Overworld while riding a Strider. To do this, you’ll need the following items:

  • Saddle
  • Lead
  • Warped Fungus on a Stick
  • Fire Resistance Potion (Optional)

First, head to the Nether. Striders are passive mobs that spawn in the bottom levels of the Nether, usually in or around the giant lava pools. Wait until one gets near land, and then place a Saddle on it. You can now either ride it and use a Warped Fungus on a Stick to lead it back to your Nether Portal, or you can simply use a Lead. Either way, you’ll need to bring the Strider back to the Overworld.

When Striders are out of lava, they slowly turn purple, and their movement speed will decrease dramatically. They won’t die, but they will take damage from water, so keep them away from all water sources.

Now that you’ve got your Strider out in the Overworld, it’s time to find a lava pool big enough for the achievement. Lava pools are kind of rare in the Overworld, so you might need to make your own. The reason being is that you must travel over 50 unique lava blocks in one go, meaning you can’t just walk around in a circle to get it. For the easiest time, we recommend making a two-block wide road full of lava.

Once your lava road is ready, put the Saddle on your Strider if you haven’t already, then hop on. Equip your Warped Fungus on a Stick, and then walk all the way down your lava road, and you should get the achievement.

Congratulations! You now have the lava walker achievement, also known as “Feels Like Home.” If you have any other questions about this achievement, let us know in the comments below!
