How Does Merging Work in Rush Royale

In Rush Royale, at the beginning of every match, players have a 3×5 grid to place their units and start the match. To compensate for this apparent lack of space, you can merge two identical units by dragging one unit onto the other, creating a new, but random unit with an improved fire rate.

The selected units must also be of the same merge rank, indicated by the border around any given unit present on the grid, where a circle indicates a Rank 1 unit, a point oval indicates a Rank 2 unit, a triangle indicates a Rank 3 unit, and so on.

Merging isn’t all sunshine and roses, however. Since the overall power of the merged unit is based on random chance, this can result in damage losses when merging high-ranking units. Getting too liberal with your merging spree may result in your defenses being overthrown.

Tips to Improve Your Merging Game

  • Don’t merge units too quickly. Focus on filling your board with Rank 1 cards first when beginning the game. Merge only when your board is full, or if you have bad cards that you need to get rid of.
  • Don’t merge high DPS cards at the beginning of the game. Simply summon units or power up their level because Mana Power up can be better than summoning random units.
  • Merging is basically gambling, since you don’t know what you could end up with. So you need to know when you can afford to get bad results, and only merge when you know that a bad outcome will not affect your momentum in the game too much.
