Fate/Grand Order is a free-to-play Japanese mobile game, developed by Lasengle and published by Aniplex. The game is based on Type-Moon’s Fate/stay night franchise and was released in Japan on 29 July 2015 for Android and on 12 August 2015, for iOS. An arcade version titled Fate/Grand Order Arcade was released by Sega in Japan on 26 July 2018.
The game is centered around turn-based combat where the player, who takes on the role of a “Master”, summons and commands powerful familiars known as “Servants” to battle enemies. The story narrative is presented in a visual novel format, and each Servant has its own scenario that the player can explore. Servants are obtained through the gacha mechanic.
Today we will be talking about one of the Servants in the game, Carmilla.
Background
Formerly known as Elisabeth Bathory, she eventually matured and turned into a complete monster. Her dark side that started to take over her was known by a different name to her and everyone else: Carmilla.

After becoming Carmilla, Elisabeth and she try to kill each other. This is because young Elisabeth refuses to become Carmilla, and Elisabeth is the intolerable symbol that covets innocence and glorifies adolescence, for Carmilla.
Battle Abilities
Ever since the game’s launch, Carmilla has always been one of the best 4-star Assassins. The main reason for this is her Noble Phantasm, which has a built-in ATK up and is extremely effective against other female enemies.
Thanks to Carmilla’s first skill as well as her good NP gain stats, she is able to spam it rather reliably, allowing her to output a consistent about of damage. This is then further boosted by her second skill’s defense down. Her third skill provides additional critical stars for the team and applies a huge critical chance debuff to an enemy which can be useful against certain Rider enemies such as Dragons.
As is with every Servant with great strengths, Carmilla also has some limiting weaknesses. Her triple-Quick deck and the Assassin-class’ 0.9x damage modifier cripple her damage at times. Even though Carmilla’s NP heals her, she has no other defensive/sustain skills to speak of, making her rely on external support in that regard. Overall, Carmilla is an extremely versatile offensive Servant with reliable performance, so she should still fit any sort of lineup.
