You can use the Gold Sewing Needle to progress through the NPC, Boc the Seamster’s questline, finally unlocking the boss armor Alteration feature that allows you to visually alter some of the boss armors found in the game.

When you encounter the NPC, Boc the Seamster, for the third time in Lake-Facing Cliffs Site of Grace in Liurnia of the Lakes Region of the Lands Between, you unlock the Garments Alter feature. Giving him the Gold Sewing Needle will unlock the boss armor alter feature—granted you meet the other two requirements:

• Talk to Melina about the NPC, Boc the Seamster, at East Raya Lucaria Gate Site of Grace.
• You have bought at least one boss armor from the Finger Reader found in the Roundtable Hold.
