How to Use the Logic Gates in Terraria – Guide, and Tips

Logic Gates is a useful component for your mechanisms, due to which, under certain conditions, a signal will be sent to the connected mechanisms. You need to connect mechanisms to the Logic Gate using Logic Gate Lamps, the number of which you can adjust yourself. In the game there are 6 Logic Gates, which are activated under different conditions:

  • Logic Gate (AND). Gives a signal when all lamps are active.
  • Logic Gate (NAND). Gives a signal unless all lamps are active.
  • Logic Gate (OR). Gives a signal when at least one lamp is active.
  • Logic Gate (NOR). Gives a signal when no lamp is active.
  • Logic Gate (XOR). Gives a signal when exactly one lamp is active.
  • Logic Gate (XNOR). Gives a signal when the total active lamps are not one.

Tips to Use the Logic Gates in Terraria

Before you can use Logic Gates, you need to connect them to mechanical objects that will fulfill the conditions necessary to trigger a signal. These objects can be levers, switches, doors, buttons, or even chests that will give a signal when opened or closed. To successfully use Logic Gates, you need to turn on your imagination, but a few tips still come in handy:

  • Do not combine too many mechanisms and Logic Gates into one system, as failure may occur.
  • If multiple simultaneous signals are needed to activate Logic Gates, you can use different mechanisms. For example, the hatch will only open if you open the door and turn on the lights in the house or vice versa, as it all depends on the settings.
  • Don’t be afraid to experiment with Logic Gates, as the uses for it are endless. Even if you make a mistake, nothing will explode, and you will just have to do it all over again.
