How to Re-center the Camera in Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is finally here on the Nintendo Switch, and Monolith Soft has created another massive world for players to explore. With huge, sprawling environments to traverse, you’ll have to get the hang of controlling the camera before you can explore fully. Re-centering the Camera in Xenoblade Chronicles 3

After the lengthy opening of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Noah’s group is dropped into Everblight Plain, where you’re given your first taste of the world. You can run around, collect materials, and battle some low level enemies safely.

The game will give you a quick tutorial on how to use the guidance system, but it won’t elaborate on the camera controls. By default, you can use the right stick to move the camera around freely, like any other standard third-person controls.

You can also fine-tune the camera to your liking. Hold down the ZL button, and you’ll see a bunch of button prompts show up in the bottom right corner.

Moving the right stick left and right will change the vertical position of the camera. Move the right stick to the left to raise the camera, or to the right to lower it.

Moving the right stick up and down will change the camera’s distance from Noah. Move the right stick down to zoom the camera out, or move it up to bring it closer to Noah.

The game will remember these positions so that you can rotate the camera based on your settings. If you lose control of the camera, you can always re-center it by pushing the right stick in while holding ZL.

This will immediately snap the camera back to behind Noah, or whoever you have as your main character. However, your camera position and distance will remain the same, so you’ll need to change those if they’re not to your liking.
