Lucasfilm and Netmarble have just announced a brand new mobile game set in the Star Wars universe, Star Wars: Force Arena. It appears, from the minimal details that the developers have offered, that we’re actually talking about a MOBA type of game with some interesting approaches and features.
Describes as a “ree-to-play real-time PvP game” for Android and iOS, Star Wars: Force Arena will feature over 65 iconic Star Wars characters and vehicles as well as upgrades for them. You will be allowed choose your side (Rebels or Empire), then build your own 4 character squad and battle in the arena. Legendary duos also come into play to improved battle stats (think Han Solo and Chewbacca) and with over 65 characters to choose from, it’s pretty obvious from the start that we’re looking at a game where we’ll have nearly endless possible approaches to each battle.
However, Star Wars: Force Arena doesn’t look like the regular MOBA. For starters, it seems that we’ll control the entire squad instead of just a single character in the team. We’ll have battles against the AI in single player missions, but also PvP games. And here things become more interesting, as Netmarble announced that we’ll have 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2 multiplayer battles. I am really curious to see how this turns out!
If you’re curious too, here are the first screenshots from Star Wars: Force Arena, which looks really good:
You can pre-register for the game and if you’re even slightly interested in it you should, because there are great rewards awaiting those who pre-register on the game’s official website. The game will be available for free for Android and iOS, but no release date has been announced. However, we believe that it won’t be long until the game hits the virtual store shelves, so make sure that the Force is with you!
