The world of Terraria is a dangerous place, so you’ll need to equip yourself with a variety of gadgets and gizmos that grant you special abilities. Some accessories, on the other hand, serve to only give you some extra information about the game, with the Stopwatch being one of them. Today, we’ll explain everything in our Terraria: How to get Stopwatch guide!
Getting the Stopwatch in Terraria
The Stopwatch is an informational accessory that shows how fast you’re traveling, measured in miles per hour. Informational accessories can activate without having to be equipped to an accessory slot, so you can save those slots for more important accessories.
To obtain the Stopwatch, it’s rather quite easy. You just have to wait for the Traveling Merchant to show up at your town, then buy it from him for 5 gold. This is a lot of gold during the early game, so don’t worry if you can’t afford it at the moment. The Traveling Merchant will almost always have this in his inventory, so you can just catch him later.

Once you’ve built a few houses, the Guide and another NPC will move in, and your little hut will eventually be considered a town. This will make it so that the Traveling Merchant can spawn. Once he visits, the Traveling Merchant will stay around for a day, then depart. Like we said though, he’ll eventually visit again.
The Stopwatch is a part of the advanced accessory, Goblin Tech. If you have the Tinkerer’s Workshop from the Goblin Tinkerer, you can combine the Metal Detector, Stopwatch, and DPS Meter all into one accessory to save space. The Goblin Tech itself is another part of an even more advanced accessory, the PDA.
