And although both Activision and Infinity Ward have been working hard to fix most of these bugs and issues through updates and patches, some bugs are tough to just clear out and still manage to stick around while others come with the new updates such as the Disc Read error. So in this article, we guide you on how to fix ‘Sys_Error’ on Xbox and ‘Disc Read Error’ – Modern Warfare 2.

How To Fix ‘Sys_Error’ on Xbox and ‘Disc Read Error’ – Modern Warfare 2

The Disc Read error has so far been affecting players who are playing the digital copy of the game. And while the error doesn’t always show up, it does more often than not, forcing players to close the game and restart it.

It’s an annoying error in CoD MW2 because, unlike some others, this one doesn’t really have a permanent fix and usually occurs if the shooter’s servers are acting up or if there are a bunch of corrupt files in the game’s installation directory.

So while we wait for a permanent fix for this error, below are some temporary methods you can use to try and fix the Sys_Error and Disc Read Error in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2:

Scan and fix the installed files

There might be issues in the player’s installation directory such as corrupt files which are often the root cause and the way to fix this is to replace them with the help of the Steam or Battle.net client. To start the process, players will have to select the game from the client and then make their way to the game’s setting option and click on “scan and repair.” This will start a process where the client will check all the installed files in the directory and then automatically repair the ones that may be corrupted.

Check the Modern Warfare 2 server status

Most of the problems in CoD MW2 appear to have come from the game’s servers, so it’s not all a problem from the player’s end. Players should expect maintenance and patching often in MW2 as Activision is constantly looking to introduce various fixes and quality-of-life updates to the game. Hence, if the servers are actually down for maintenance, you will have to be patient until they are back online again.

Re-install the game

This should be your last resort in fixing the Sys_Error and Disc Read Error. Re-installing Modern Warfare 2 seems to have solved issue like corrupt files and bugs for the majority of players in the Call of Duty community and it might just fix the above as well.

And if you’re not willing to re-install the game, you can reach out to Activision and report the Disc Read Error to them and just wait for them to acknowledge and fix it. But it’s also worth noting that they’re already aware of this problem and are working on a solution to fix it. So we advise staying up-to-date on the developers’ social media channels in case they release updates.
