Where to Find and How to Use the Ability Patch in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The Ability Patch is an item players can use to change the Pokemon’s ability. The patch can change the Pokemon’s ability from its regular ability to a hidden one, if it has one of course.

Usually the Ability Patch could be used to switch only from its regular ability to the hidden ability. Now, in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the Ability Patch can also be used to switch from the hidden ability to the regular one.

Unlike the Ability Capsule, the Ability Patch cannot switch the Pokemon’s first ability to the second, only the first or second ability to the hidden ability or vice versa.

The Ability Patch can be obtained by completing Tera Raid Battles. It is dropped from 6 Star Tera Raid Battles which only appear once players complete the Academy Ace Tournament. Once the tournament is complete, the raid battles will appear on the map.

The Ability Patch is a rare item so it does not drop in huge numbers, you may only get 1 in a drop.
