In the newer Pokémon games, the adventure doesn’t stop once you beat all the Gym Leaders and the Elite Four! After the credits roll, a bunch of new activities will pop up, including a rematch against the Gym Leaders. Today, our Pokémon Scarlet and Violet guide will show you how to rematch Gym Leaders!
Rematching Gym Leaders in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
One of the main story branches of is Victory Road, the path that Nemona wants you to take. She wants you to enjoy the competitive side of Pokémon battles as much as she does, so she tasks you with challenging the Gym Leaders across Paldea.
Once you beat all the Gym Leaders, you’ll eventually go on to challenge the Elite Four. They’re basically improved versions of the Gym Leaders, as they’re packing powerful teams. Once you beat them and the other paths, you’ll be done with Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’s main story.
After completing the main story, you can now rematch the Gym Leaders and fight their new and improved teams. To rematch a Gym Leader, simply go back to their city and speak to them to issue a challenge. You don’t have to take the Gym Test again, so don’t worry about that.
By the time you complete the main story of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, your main team should be somewhere around level 50-70. As such, the Gym Leaders’ new teams will reflect that, and their Pokémon will be somewhere in their 60s. Be prepared for a fight!

If you go back to a Gym Leader you’ve already beat and haven’t finished the main story yet, they’ll just make small talk with you. You have to beat the main game before you can rematch the Gym Leaders.
