The sandwich system in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is a bit complex, as many players are still trying to decipher it. The game itself barely explains the system’s inner workings, and we’re left to figure things out through trial-and-error.

Basically, when creating your own sandwich, you can pick up to six fillings and four spices. The types of ingredients you use, and the amount used, will determine what Meal Powers you will gain.

Be careful when placing the fillings on. You don’t want them to slide off!

Thanks to a user on the GBATemp forums by the name of The_Time_Is_Nigh, we have exact formulas on how to make the perfect sandwiches for shiny hunting. In the case of shiny Psychic type Pokémon, you’ll want to use Creative Mode and add these ingredients:

  • Onion x 1
  • Salty Herba Mystica x 2

This combination will net you the following Meal Powers, all attuned to Psychic types:

  • Sparkling Power Lv. 3
  • Title Power Lv. 3
  • Encounter Power Lv. 3

All normal fillings and spices can be purchased at the supermarket locations in major cities. The Herba Mystica ingredients are found as rare drops from 5-star and above Tera Raids. Although 6-star Tera Raids can only be accessed once you finish the main story, they have a higher chance to drop Herba Mystica.

Some Tera Raid Pokémon will drop all types of Herba Mystica, while others will only drop a certain kind. Since you’ll need a lot of the Salty Herba Mystica, here’s a helpful chart:

Tera Raids with all types of Herba Mystica

  • Gengar
  • Blissey
  • Glalie
  • Eelektross
  • Palafin
  • Amoonguss (5 & 6 star)
  • Dondonzo (5 & 6 star)
  • Cetitan (5 & 6 star)
  • Vaporeon (6 star only)
  • Farigiraf (6 star only)

Tera Raids with only Salty Herba Mystica

  • Cloyster
  • Slowbro
  • Coalossal
  • Greedent
  • Copperajah
  • Bronzong
  • Garganacl (5 & 6 star)
  • Orthworm (5 & 6 star)
  • Corviknight (5 & 6 star)
  • Avalugg (5 & 6 star)
  • Hippowdon (5 & 6 star)
  • Toxapex (6 star only)
  • Dachbuns (6 star only)
  • Klawf (6 star only)
  • Pelipper (6 star only)
