The year is tipped to be one that’s filled with many incredible titles for pretty much all gaming platforms. Anime fans can kick things off and set sail on new adventures with One Piece Odyssey, Bandai Namco’s new RPG that’s inspired by the long-running manga series.
The game will see players explore the life and all-new story featuring Captain Monkey D. Luffy and the entire Straw Hat Crew, who find themselves in a tragic sea storm. So in this article, we’ll be touching on the timeline and telling you when does One Piece Odyssey take place?
When Does One Piece Odyssey Take Place? – Answered
After making it out of the perilous storm, the crew find themselves on an island called Waford. This island is filled with natural wonders, mysterious locals and of course, dangerous foes.
This newest adventure sees the Straw Hat Pirates embark on an adventure like never before, but when in the series’ timeline does it take place? One thing’s for sure, and it’s that One Piece Odyssey is set after the in-universe time skip since the whole characters are using their design from the Fishman Island story arc.
However, there are certain issues that pinpoint precisely where One Piece Odyssey’s story takes place. One of them is that the Pirates can relive the Dressrosa arc, which can only mean that the events of the game would have to take place after that particular storyline.
The issue, however, is that the beloved Pirates were separated from the beginning of Dressrosa and did not reunite till the Wano arc, which previously concluded in the One Piece manga. And although the entire crew reunited during the Zou arc, Sanji was nowhere to be seen, despite being one of the game’s playable characters.
Another issue is Jinbe’s absence from the crew in One Piece Odyssey. This proves that he hasn’t joined them yet, so the One Piece Odyssey doesn’t fall in line with the canon timeline since the Pirates weren’t together from Dressrosa to Wano, leaving Jinbe out of the crew.
Ultimately, One Piece Odyssey seemingly has a storyline that’s looking to take players on a standalone adventure, one that takes players outside the series’ timeline entirely.
