Patch 6.25 for Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker brought a Variant Dungeon called The Sil’dihn Subterrane, with different difficulty levels and some excellent rewards. It is meant for 1 to 4 players, and the map offers multiple routes with different choices to make as you go, so several playthroughs are recommended.
Once you finish the Variant version, you will unlock the Criterion Dungeon, which is technically the same but with a more challenging difficulty setting. Still, before we get to Criterion, let’s learn how to unlock Variant Dungeons with this straightforward FFXIV guide.
Requirements for Unlocking Variant Dungeons in FFXIV
To be able to unlock Variant Dungeons in Final Fantasy XIV, you will need to fulfill a few criteria first. Only players with level 90 can enter The Sil’dihn Subterrane. In addition to that, you need to possess an item of level 575 or above. In case your item level is much higher, it will be synced to level 635.
How to Unlock Variant Dungeons in FFXIV
If you meet the requirements specified above, it’s time to join in on the fun and get into your first Variant Dungeon. To access The Sil’dihn Subterrane, you will need to finish the main quest Endwalker. If that’s out of the way, then head to Old Sharlayan and talk to Osmon. You can find this NPC at these coordinates—X: 11.9, Y: 13.3.
However, you will receive the quest that gets you into the Variant Dungeon from Shallow Moor, the NPC that stands next to Osmon. Talk to him after talking to Osmon and start A Key to the Past questline. Follow the quest’s objectives, and you will eventually end up at the entrance to The Sil’dihn Subterrane.
