Rennala boss battle has three phases. Two are major phases, and one is a minor phase where you will notice attack pattern changes and other things.

In the first phase, the boss battle will take place in Raya Lucaria’s Grand Library, where you will see Rennala floating in the air with a protective golden barrier that blocks all attacks.

During this phase, you will find a lot of disabled students of Raya Lucaria on the ground, and they are large in number but slow. Your goal is to destroy the barrier on Rennala and bring her down so you can unleash attacks to deal damage.

You can do that by killing three students that chant the barrier spell. Just look around the arena, and you will find a student with a golden aura. Use any attack to deal with the said student.

Once you do that, another one will spawn. Do this three times, and you will bring Rennala down with no barrier. As soon as Rennala is on the ground, attack her and run back when she starts making her barrier again, as it releases an AoE attack that deals massive damage.

Repeat this process one to three times to enter the second phase. In this phase, the boss arena is somewhat similar to what we had in Bloodborne during the Rom, the Vacuous Spider boss battle.

You will have endless space around you. As soon as Rennala enters the second phase, sprint either left or right to avoid her version of the Comet Azur attack.

Next, get close while avoiding her attacks and start dealing damage. You can stagger her, apply Bleed status, and other such things. So, you can be creative here. Just look out when she unleashes Rennala’s Moon attack.

It is a slow but homing attack that tracks you to a certain degree, and if you come in contact, it explodes in an AoE, dealing enough damage to take you down in one go.

When you bring down Rennala’s HP bar to 50% or lower, she will enter the final phase, where she summons spirits. Avoid them, as they disappear after unleashing one or two attacks.

And similar to before, stay close to Rennala and attack her whenever you get a chance. Also, you can stagger and cancel some of her attacks using throwable items.

If you are a newbie, summon your spirit companion in the second phase. Doing so will ensure you don’t have agro all the time.
