Bithell Games, the studio behind Thomas Was Alone and Volume, have just launched yet another amazing adventure game, Subsurface Circular. The game was already available on PCs where it got some glowing reviews and awesome reception, but now anybody who owns an iPad can give it a try at solving the mystery.
Subsurface Circular is basically a text adventure game with well designed backgrounds – no visual bells and whistles to take you away from what matters the most: the mystery that has to be solved, the story itself which is masterfully written and ready to keep you hooked from start to finish.
As the first title in a series of “Bithell Shorts”, Subsurface Circular features an experimental approach to storytelling to deliver a thrilling and engaging narrative that plays out like an interactive novel. Inspired by classic adventure games and modern dialogue systems, Bithell Games has created a single-session story which respects players’ time and intelligence. The game also features a special art gallery where players can explore the detailed work put into the world, as well as an unlockable BithellBot, an interactive take on a developer’s commentary.
In other words, this is not a long game: you can easily play it in one sitting if you have some time on your hand, but it’s really enjoyable. It’s perfect for playing on the go, during a longer airplane trip, on the train or anything like that. And even though it’s text-based, it will keep you hooked from start to finish. So do yourself a favor and give it a try, especially if you’re a fan of adventure games.
Subsurface Circular can be downloaded now for iPad on the App Store and it costs $4.99.
