Encountering lightning while playing Tears of the Kingdom can be frustrating! The lightning strike causes a great deal of damage, killing most players with only one strike. To avoid the rain and lightning and continue your epic adventure in sunnier weather, visit a nearby Shelter or Campfire. Find a bed to use and sleep until the next morning, when the weather has cleared. You can build your own campfire under a makeshift shelter or trees using a bundle of wood and a flame blade and, as long as there are no enemies nearby, you can rest until the sun appears.

What if I ignore the storm?

Of course, you could always try to ignore the lightning, but if you have any metal on you, it will attract the strike, sending a shockwave through you and dealing a lot of damage to you and your horse. This also means, however, that it can deal a lot of damage to enemies, so you have the option of directing lightning towards them. You can do this by throwing metal objects toward enemies while the lightning is striking.

You may not always want to avoid the rain and lightning in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but if you do, there is a simple solution to staying safe!
