How Does Aggravate Work in Genshin Impact

After two years since the release of Genshin Impact, HoYoverse has finally added Dendro characters to the new Sumeru region, bringing about interesting reactions like Spread, Aggravate, Hyperbloom, and more. These new reactions have had a significant impact on the game’s strategy, allowing players to explore different team combinations.

But unlike some more familiar reactions, like Vaporise and Melt, Dendro reactions can be a bit challenging to understand. In this guide, our focus is on the Aggravate reaction, and you can learn how it works in Genshin Impact.

Aggravate reaction in Genshin Impact: all you need to know

In Genshin Impact, the Dendro element can react with Pyro, Hydro, and Electro. With the release of Dendro, Electro characters received a major buff with new reactions like Aggravate. Before we dive into Aggravate, though, we need to understand how the element aura works and how reactions occur.

Whenever you use an attack with elemental power, it leaves an “aura” on the enemy you hit. The strength of this aura depends on the intensity of the elemental attack. Some characters, like Bennett, have strong elemental attacks that create powerful auras, while others, like Diluc, have weaker ones. When an enemy has an aura, it means they are affected by that element.

The duration of the elemental aura depends on the strength of the attack that applied it. Some auras may last just a few seconds, while others can linger for a longer time. When you attack an enemy that already has an elemental aura with a different elemental attack, it can trigger an elemental reaction.

If an enemy has a Dendro aura and you hit them with an Electro attack (or vice versa), the enemy acquires a new aura called “Quicken.” This Quicken aura allows you to deal extra damage by using more Electro attacks, in a special interaction between Dendro and Electro that is called the Aggravate reaction. It boosts the final damage of your Electro attacks by adding a flat damage bonus.

To make the most of Aggravate, you can enhance your damage by increasing your Elemental Mastery and leveling up your characters. Using Elemental Mastery Sands or a suitable weapon can also significantly increase Aggravate damage.
