When Clash Royale was first released, it only had the classic 1v1 mode, but after many years, it now hosts a plethora of fun and unique gameplay modes, including 2v2 battles. The 2v2 gameplay mode is perfect for those who want to experience the competitive and enjoyable nature of Clash Royale with their friends, clan mates, or even other random players.
If you are new to Clash Royale, you may not be familiar with the 2v2 battle mode. Don’t worry, though, as this guide explains how to play 2v2 battles in Clash Royale and offer some beginner tips to help you get started.
Clash Royale 2v2 battle guide
In the past, the 2v2 battle mode used to be available on the opening Battle screen. However, in recent updates, Supercell decided to move the 2v2 battle to a completely different section. Many returning players wonder where the 2v2 battle mode went and whether Supercell removed it, but the good news is that this is not the case. The 2v2 battle mode is still in Clash Royale, but it has been moved to the Events page.
Follow these steps to play 2v2 in Clash Royale:
- Open Clash Royale;
- Go to the Events tab on the rightmost side;
- Tap on the 2v2 icon, located in the bottom right corner of the Events tab;
- Tap the Battle button;
- Choose either “Play With Friend” or “Quick Match.” “Play With Friend” allows you to invite a friend or clan mate to the party, while “Quick Match” pairs you with a random player.
That’s all you need to do to start playing 2v2 in Clash Royale. By participating in 2v2 battles, you can earn Season Tokens and use them in the Season Shop to purchase cards, gold, wild cards, evolution shards, emotes, and more each season.
Helpful tips for Clash Royale 2v2 battles
As the name suggests, the 2v2 game mode is a battle between two teams, each consisting of two players. Both players use their decks to take down the enemy’s towers and earn crowns. Here are some helpful tips for players new to the Clash Royale 2v2 mode:
- In 2v2 mode, King Towers have two cannons. You should try to avoid triggering the opponent team’s King Tower early while also attempting to bait them into attacking your King Tower to activate the cannons;
- Avoid using costly decks, as the Elixir generation rate is slower in 2v2 mode. A deck with an average elixir cost of 3-3.5 is a reasonable goal if you are planning to build a new deck for the 2v2 mode in Clash Royale;
- If you are playing with a friend, try to use a deck that complements theirs. If they have rare and powerful cards, you can assist them by including more supporting cards in your deck;
- Keep track of your teammate’s cards during the battle. Either one of you needs to have defensive cards ready.
