If you’ve never played a MOBA before, you owe it to yourself to play one on mobile. Although the genre originated on PC, the touchscreen is by far the best way to play.
That’s why MOBAs are big business right now, and Battle Arena: Heroes Adventure (you can call it BAHA) is looking like the next big thing. It sees you taking on enemies in PvE and PvP in a vibrant cartoon fantasy world, with more settings and characters than you can shake a magic staff at.
There are more than 50 heroes to choose from, including a deadly killer robot, a gun-toting muscleman (also deadly), and a killer elf (again, deadly). It’s a real mix of sources, with every fictional taste catered for.
As you’d expect, each of these heroes has different strengths, weaknesses, abilities, and goals. They level up with every battle, and you also earn skill points that you can distribute amongst them to build your perfect killing force.
Tactics rule the day. You can level up your heroes all you want, but if you don’t take the right mix into battle and deploy their abilities at the right times, you’ll never be true champion. A smart weakling will overcome a strong thicko every time.
You can hone your skills in a number of ways. One is to play the single-player campaign all the way to the end, which will allow you to pump up your heroes’ skills and collect useful items in a diverse array of fantastical environments. The boss battles in particular will force you to become an elite military tactician.
Another path to utter deadliness is to join a clan. Here you’ll be able to train with friends, rewatch matches for tips, share hero fragments, and earn unique rewards — all while hanging out with a group of like-minded friends, which you can find by interests and location.
All of this training will be invaluable in the PvP Arena, where human opponents await in various sections sorted by difficulty, meaning you can always find the right kind of match.
BAHA is the most promising MOBA since Vainglory, with an eclectic fantasy setting, a generous suite of features, and gameplay that emphasises tactics over dumb strength.
In addition to this the alliance clan events are also huge fun, allowing heroes to share battles with other alliance members. There are even battle replays to watch over to your heart’s content.
You can pick it up for free right now on Google Play and the App Store.
