Once you have joined a guild (a good one, we hope, else just follow our guide because it will help you lots) you will be given the option, among many others, to choose a profession. This profession will influence the daily rewards you get, and will give you some bonus stats that will boost your character.

If you want to know what those stats are, and how each profession will benefit you, let’s check the Overlords of Oblivion professions right here below!

Merchant Profession

Bonus stats: HP, Critical Hit, Critical Damage

Special ability: Increased Silver gain

This profession is good if you want to boost your stats and increase your offenses (and life). It is good if you plan on enchanting your gears and basically working on them, and you don’t have a lot of other ways to gain Silver.

It is good to choose this if you are a big spender, because it will help with that. Also, it’s good if you are doing offensive builds and PvP. But don’t choose this solely for PvP because it’s much better to get another profession for this.

Pharmacist Profession

Bonus stats: Defense, Anti-Crit, Block

Special ability: Creates potions that restore AP

This is one of my favorite professions (actually, the one I prefer the most) because I like doing the Adventure Mode quite often. Since I do that a lot, the AP cost is quite high, and this profession help me keep it somehow sustained.

It is a good profession for PvP also because of the bonus stats. The Block chance is extremely good if you go into the arena a lot, because it is a stat that works there very well.

Hunter Profession

Bonus stats: Attack, Anti-Crit, Critical Damage Reduction

Special ability: Increases EXP gained

For the mad levelers out there, this is the profession for you. If you’re trying to achieve max level or just really quickly level up, this profession is great. It’s not ideal if you are already super high level, because you could benefit further from others (such as Gladiator or Enchanter), but it’s not bad to have.

The stats you get from it are also extremely good for PvP, because they boost both your offenses and defenses, and if you want to have higher Attack while also rocking solid defenses, learning the Hunter profession is going to be your go-to.

I had a hard time deciding between Hunter and Pharmacist (eventually went with the Hunter, even though it was a tough choice) because both of them are extremely good, but I wanted to level up super quickly.

The extra stats I got from it weren’t a major WOW, but they did help indeed. If you want to quickly level up (and joined a decent guild early on) then this is definitely a good choice for a profession.

Gladiator Profession

Bonus stats: Attack, Block, Block Power

Special ability: Increased Fame and Honor gain

If you’re a hardcore PvPer in the game, then definitely go for this. It’s got great increases to the Fame and Honor, and they are good for buying Pets and other goods from the arena store.

The bonus stats are also good for PvP; actually, they are specifically made for PvP. If you don’t really plan on doing the arenas as often as possible, then don’t bother with this because the special ability gained from this will not benefit you as good as other ones would.

Enchanter Profession

Bonus stats: HP, Accuracy, Block Resistance

Special ability: Creates Scrolls and Runes

This profession is good for when you have already reached a quite high level and all you need to focus on is your gears. The best thing about it, is that the Runes and Scrolls it creates are free, so they add up to the 1 free Rune you can get daily.

It’s good for when you don’t really have other things to focus on, but it’s not the best in my opinion. I much rather prefer the Gladiator for end-game builds, since I am more of a PvP type of person in RPG games.

But it all depends on your play style, so if you have some affinity for PvP, try choosing a profession that best goes with that; if you like getting freebies, try going for the Enchanter. If you are into leveling up quickly, go for the Hunter. Really, you can’t go wrong.

Resetting your profession

The profession you choose is not set in stone. If you have achieved everything you needed from it, go ahead and reset it, but be wary! The moment you reset your profession, the level will be set to 0.

You will have to start level it all over again, so make sure if you have chosen a bad profession early on, reset it before leveling it too much.

This is everything that you need to know in our Overlords of Oblivion professions guide! The more you play, the better you will understand what exactly you need for your character. So before choosing a profession, carefully read the guide to make sure you make the best choice!
