In this Utopia: Origin fishing guide we will teach you everything that you need to know about fishing and how to fish! If you want to learn more about this sacred art of fishing, then follow this Utopia: Origin fishing guide and further develop your knowledge about the game!
First things first though: you will need fishing equipment! The fishing equipment consists basically of fishing rod and some bait. The bait we will use are worms, because all fish dig that, right? (get the joke? Because you have to “dig” the worms out of the ground? Oh well)
Utopia: Origin – Types of fishing
You can choose to fish from a boat or from the side of the lake or river. The first option will require you to have an actual boat, so you are going to need to craft it (plus the fishing rod and bait). The second option is much simpler and can be done pretty much anytime, as long as you have the rod and bait.
I suggest starting off fishing by standing on the side of the lake or river, but don’t go too deep in because you will start losing stamina, and might eventually drown and die (and we don’t really want that now, do we?).
Utopia: Origin – How to get a fishing rod
In order to get a fishing rod you will have to gather some materials and craft it. The materials needed to craft a Fishing Rod are:
– 20 wood (obtained very easy, from chopping down trees)
– 1 Tendon (obtained from cows, if you don’t get it from the first kill, try again and again!)
– 1 Iron Bar (you will need a Furnace and you can smelt Iron Ore in it)
The fishing rod might eventually break, so when that happens you will have to craft another one. There are better fishing rods, such as the Gold Fishing Rod, but that one is much more expensive and requires a lot more work to craft.
To make a Gold Fishing Rod you will need:
– 20 Gold Bars (you need a Furnace and Gold Ore, which you can then smelt into the Gold Bars)
– 1 Tendon (from cows)
– 1 Iron Bar (again obtained by smelting Iron ore in the Furnace)
The Gold Fishing Rod will break much harder than its wooden counterpart, and it’s very much worth it if you like fishing especially after you’ve gathered a lot of materials and are ready to invest in it.
Utopia: Origin – How to get worms
In order to gather Earthworms you will need to keep an eye out for the little bumps in the grown that are made of clay. Those usually appear next to the rivers or ponds (and lakes – generally in the green zones) and usually don’t stand out too much, so you might have already walked past one.
When you see them, stick your hand in it and grab some clay. Once you pick this up, it will give you some clay, but you will also get most of the time some Earthworms along with it. Keep looking for those clay bumps and farm them, and once you’ve got like around 20 (or more) worms start looking for a good place to fish!
Utopia: Origin – How to get a boat
In order to get a boat you will also need to craft it (big surprise, right?). To craft a boat you will need:
– 50 Wood (chop chop chop those trees!)
– 20 Hide (you need to equip a weapon and start hunting down pigs and cows for their tough skin)
Once you got the materials, you’re pretty much done with crafting the boat! Don’t forget that once you put the boat down, you should also pick it back up once you’re done with it! Well then, let’s get into the fishing techniques then!
Utopia: Origin – How to fish
To get on the boat and start fishing from it, you will need to place it on the river or lake first. Just tap the boat and select to Use it and then tap the location where you want it placed. Once you’ve got it all set, get on the boat (get close to it and board it) and you’re ready to start a good fishing trip!
Now it’s time to find a good spot for fishing. I suggest going in a pretty remote location, as that might be the least looted area and who knows, you might find some really good fish there!
If you choose to fish from the side of the lake, I suggest changing locations often, especially after you’ve caught a fish or two in the same location already. If you can’t seem to catch anything, don’t give up and instead just go to a less crowded area and try again!
