The Witcher 3 Gets 20-Minute Long Gameplay Video Showcasing Novigrad And More

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Despite having been released over four years ago, The Witcher 3 is one of the most anticipated titles releasing on Nintendo Switch later this year. It’s really easy to understand why, as it’s not only one of the best RPGs released in recent years, but also because playing such a massive game on the go feels like a miracle.

Nintendo is well aware of the anticipation surrounding the game, and, as such, released over 20 minutes of new footage, showing the game running on Nintendo Switch in handheld mode. As expected, the game doesn’t look like the PC and PS4, Xbox One versions, but it’s still a good looking game, and performance doesn’t seem to be too bad.

The footage also shows gameplay in the city of Novigrad, which is one of the locations where the console releases struggle most in terms of performance. It’s been confirmed that the number of NPCs will be the same as the PlayStation 4 version, which is impressive, considering the technical limitations.

The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch has been developed by Saber Interactive in around 12 months. The development team did everything possible to make the game run decently on the console, and it seems like they have achieved it fully by making some cuts here and there. The Nintendo Switch release will include all of the game’s content, including the expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, on the cart, so Saber definitely made magic happen.

The Witcher 3 launches on Nintendo Switch this October. The game is now available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One worldwide.
