Earlier this week, Nintendo made several Nintendo Switch announcements. A few of these announcements, however, were region-specific, such as the confirmation of the first three entries in the Dragon Quest series releasing in Japan.
Nothing has been said regarding a possible release in North America and Europe, but it seems like there will be a way to play them in English on Nintendo Switch next year.
Square Enix confirmed that Dragon Quest I, II and III will be released with multiple languages support, English included, in Asian territories next year.
As the Nintendo Switch is region free, players can simply create an Asian eShop account and purchase the games to enjoy them in English. The fact that they are releasing in English also suggests that an official Western release may be coming at a later time.
The Nintendo Switch is becoming more and more the console to get for JRPG and Dragon Quest fans. Later this month, Dragon Quest XI S will be released worldwide, featuring the same charming adventure seen in the PS4 and PC releases enriched with additional content and tweaks.
Alongside the improved orchestral soundtrack, Dragon Quest XI S will feature a 2D mode, which allows players to enjoy the game as if it were a classic entry in the series, new stories starring the party members joining the Hero, new worlds inspired by past entries in the series, fully voiced story sequences and many gameplay tweaks.
Dragon Quest I, II and III release soon on the Nintendo Switch in Japan. A Western release has yet to be confirmed.
