The GameBoy game is considered among the best entries in the series ever, taking a page from A Link to the Past and enhancing the experience with new features and tools.

As the original game is quite old, however, some Zelda fans may not know much about it, and for them, Nintendo released a brand new trailer which gives an overview of the game. You can check it out below.

While The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening will be extremely faithful to the original release, it will feature additional content not found in the GameBoy release, such as the Chalice Dungeon.

This dungeon is a fully customizable dungeon that players can also share online with other players worldwide. While this is not the Zelda Maker that fans have been asking for, it’s definitely a beginning, and if players show to appreciate this, it may make Nintendo start thinking about releasing a full-fledged Zelda Maker game.

Back in June, we learned that The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening isn’t being developed by Nintendo alone, but in collaboration with Grezzo. This team is a Zelda series veteran, having worked on the 3DS remakes of Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, so it definitely knows how to handle an entry in the series well.

The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening is one of the very few entries in the series that is not set in Hyrule but on a completely new island. This has allowed the developer to come up with some new interesting features and a plot that goes beyond the usual battle against Ganon.

The game will also come with a unique art style that will only enhance the cartoony feel of the original.

The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening launches on September 20th worldwide exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
