Persona 5 S has been a mystery for a very long time, but a few months ago it’s been confirmed that the game isn’t a port of the original game, but a brand new spin-off title featuring the Phantom Thieves. Very little has been shown so far about the game, which many are assuming to be the typical hack and slash game in the vein of the Warriors games, but it seems like it will be something more.
Atlus recently released a brand new Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers trailer, showing more of the game’s actual gameplay. While battles against multiple enemies are in, and will likely be the main focus, the game is also going to feature city exploration and 2D platforming, which looks quite interesting.
Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers also received a Japanese release date. The game will launch on February 20th 2020 in Japan, and a special edition called the Treasure Box edition has also been confirmed. A Western release date hasn’t been confirmed as of now, but it’s likely that the game will not take too long to release in North America and Europe, considering how popular the original Persona 5 is over here.
The fact that Persona 5 or a related spin-off would be coming to Nintendo Switch became a given when Joker was added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. As all of the game’s characters appear in Nintendo games, or are part of series that have strong ties to Nintendo, it would have been extremely strange to have Joker and not any other Atlus rep, such as characters from the Shin Megami Tensei series, whose last entries are Nintendo exclusives.
Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers launches sometime next year on Nintendo Switch.
