Following months of teasing with no confirmation, Platinum Games finally announced that The Wonderful 101 is coming to Nintendo Switch as The Wonderful 101: Remastered.
The game has been announced yesterday, together with the launch of a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to publish the game. According to the developer, no publisher was interested in the game, and so they have decided to self-publish it with the help of fans all over the world.
The funding campaign is proving to be an incredible success. $50.000 have been pledged in just 30 minutes, and the current amount raised, past the million-dollar mark, unlocked several stretch goals, which include a Steam and PlayStation 4 port and additional content like a Time Attack mode. All the additional content will not be included in the main campaign, and most of the additional content will be aesthetic, as the developer feels like the main game is already packed with content.
The Wonderful 101: Remastered is only one of the four projects currently in the works by Platinum Games. The website launched yesterday is meant to showcase all of them, but without an official announcement, there’s no way to know what is in store for the developer.
The Wonderful 101: Remastered is scheduled for an April 2020 release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC.
