Burds Cheats and Tips to Keep on Matching

This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

No levels, no story, no quests, just pure match three action with a single goal in mind: get the highest score possible before the time runs out. This is, if we want to put it short, Burds for iPhone and iPad, a game that somehow is a lot more enjoyable than it might sound at first. And since for mobile games “enjoyable” goes hand in hand with “difficult,” we are here to give you a helping hand with some Burds cheats and tips: actually some short advice on what to do and how to do it in order to get the highest possible score.

Getting coins also gives you extra seconds
Since the game will only give you a maximum of 30 seconds (replenishable) to keep playing, it’s good to know that coins also give you a few extra seconds. Coins work just like the Burds, meaning that if you connect one with a bomb, you get them all and if you connect them in a square, you also get them all. And since the clock will never get past 30 seconds NO MATTER WHAT, make sure to time your coin collecting smartly and get them when you actually receive all the bonus time.

Fill up the Progress Meter
Whenever you fill up the progress meter (the bar at the top of the screen), your clock resets to 30 seconds. It appears that the progress meter fills faster when you use bombs or create squares rather than just going for long chains, so try to focus on those. If you don’t have them, try to connect as many burds as possible before the time runs out.

The super-mega power
On rare occasions, you will get the chance to connect two bombs or two Wilds (eggs). Make sure you do that when the Progress Meter is empty and you’ll be very happy!

Freeze is very powerful
The Freeze power-up is actually a great one to use (but be careful that every new freeze in the same game will last shorter). This basically gives you extra seconds so it’s extremely useful

Use power-ups smartly
Actually, all the power-ups are useful in the game, but don’t rush to use them all at once because they are also pretty expensive. Try to use them when you’re already on a roll to increase your high score even more.

Focus on squares / loops
When you create squares (or bigger loops that end with the burd you started), all the burds of the same color will be removed. This is extremely useful since there will be fewer colors to play with and easier to create more squares. This should be your main goal when playing: play in such a way that you get as many squares, as they are the key to insane high scores!

The time lapse cheat
Some people are reporting that the time lapse cheat is working in their game: when you run out of lives/hearts and you want to play more, simply change the time on your device to a future hour and the hearts will be replenished.

And these would be, for now, our Burds tips and tricks for those who want to get a better score. Do you have any others to share? Let us know by commenting below!
