Let’s get started with our Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells cheats, tips, and tricks strategy guide to beat more levels!

Create Lots of Power-ups

As is the case with most match-3 puzzle games, creating the power-ups by matching more than three gems at a time is the key to victory. Power-ups will help you clear the level’s objective much faster, so looking for opportunities to make them is important.

The first power-up, the severing surge, is created when you match four gems. These blasts of magical energy will match an entire row or column, depending on how they are oriented. Useful for clearing mass objectives or reaching an objective piece stuck in a corner.

The second power-up is the bombastic bomb, formed by matching gems in a “L” or “T” pattern. It is a powerful bomb that consists of two explosions. Set the bomb off by moving it or tapping it in place, which will match all adjacent gems. It will leave behind a bomb of magical energy, setting off a second explosion.

The third power-up is the winged key, a flying key that automatically matches your next objective, created by matching gems in a square pattern. This key is especially helpful on boards that are separated by gaps.

The final power-up is the charmed bag power-up, which will automatically match all current gems of one color on the board. Create the charmed bag by matching five gems at once. These are incredibly helpful on the levels where you need to match a certain color of gem.

Dealing with Unique Level Objectives

Some levels will require you to deal with unique obstacles and objectives in order to clear the level. We have some strategies to help you solve them!

The first unique obstacle you will encounter are the feathers. These things are huge and cover up quite a lot of the board, so removing them should be your first priority. Match spell gems to fill up the spell meter, then you are able to cast Wingardium Leviosa to remove the feathers.

Next, you will encounter securely locked chests that require the Alohamora spell to unlock. There is no special trick to these chests, you just need to fill up the spell meter as fast as you can.

The most tricky objective are the chocolate frogs. These guys are trapped in their containers at the start of the level, but they will be freed as soon as you make a match next to them.

Every turn, chocolate frogs will jump up a few spaces around the board, and any gems they land on will be destroyed. Be careful, chocolate frogs can destroy special gems, so make sure to use them before they are wasted!

Next up you will go against the surprising every-flavor beans. A bunch of dark colored beans will cover the board, and you will need to sift through the darken beans and fight the colored beans. The colored beans will be obscured by the dark beans, so make sure to uncover it all if you cannot find them!

There are many more objectives to deal with, but when in doubt always remember this: just match next to the objective and you should be fine!

Prioritize Making Space on the Board

You may come across certain levels where there are multiple obstacles on the board that need spells to be dealt with. For example, one level will have a locked chest and feathers on it.

In these instances the game will ask you which spell you want to perform next. Whichever you choose will drain the spell meter, so to cast the other spell you will need to refill the spell meter.

It is a good idea to prioritize making space above anything else, so choosing Wingardium Leviosa in this case is the right choice because it will lift the feathers, making it easier to match more spell gems.

Open Chests and Complete Events for Gold

You can spend gold on purchasing boosters and even extra moves if you run out during a level. Gold, in short, is very valuable so you will want to amass a lot of it quickly. How do you do that, exactly?

Well there are a couple of ways. The main way is completing levels with the aforementioned locked chests in them. You will need to fill up the spell meter to cast Alohamora on them to unlock them, and they always contain large amounts of gold inside.

The second way is to complete the limited time events. Every day Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells will have new events for you to complete that cycle out once the day is over. Completing them before they leave will reward you with a bunch of gold, so make sure to do as many as you can.

Leveling Up Spells

As you progress through the game you will unlock new spells to add to your repertoire. Your older spells can also be upgraded to give you bonus effects. These upgrades do not change how the spell functions, but they do give you free power-ups whenever you cast the spell in question.

To level up spells, you must complete enough levels to level up. When your player level goes up, sometimes your spells will automatically upgrade on their own. In other cases you will need to complete special events.

There are special limited time classes that you can take under the events, like Professor Snape’s potion brewing class. Each class will upgrade a specific spell – Snape’s class will upgrade the Colovaria spell – and new classes will open up on different days of the week.

Make sure to check back often to see which classes are open, as they are similar to the regular events in that they are closed off once the day is over.

Getting Magical Creatures

Every time you complete a level you will earn a star. These stars can be spent to open up Star Packs, which contain three random creature cards.

There are a total of nine magical creatures in the game, and each one has their own album. To unlock the magical creature for your own personal care, you need to fill out their album with the right cards.

When a magical creature is yours, you can bring them with you into a level. As you activate power-ups, you will fill up the creature meter and they will provide you with helpful power-ups.

Creatures also have win streak power-ups, so the more levels you complete without losing, the better the starting power-up will be. For example the mouse will provide you with three flying keys right off the bat if you can keep up your win streak.

You will be eligible to receive more rarer creatures as you progress through the game. Be sure to open up your star packs as you receive them, and if you want you can even purchase the Brilliant Bundles, the card packs that cost 2,900 gold.

These bundles have a higher chance of getting you rare magical creatures, and they also come with the benefit of free boosters to use during a level.

Magical Creatures are very helpful, so getting a good one should be one of your long-term goals.
