PUBG Mobile is a free to play battle royale game developed by Tencent. It is a widely popular game that amasses millions of daily online players. According to Sensor Tower Data, PUBG Mobile has more than 734 Million Downloads. PUBG Mobile is one of the very first games that featured high graphical fidelity and a console-like gameplay experience.

PUBG Mobile follows a free to play business model where most of the revenue is generated by microtransactions and sponsorships. The game has a largely Asian audience. India alone holds 24% of total PUBG Mobile downloads.

History of PUBG Mobile and when did it came out

After the release of Windows version of PUBG, Chinese MegaCorp. Tencent Games and PUBG Corporation announced two mobile versions of PUBG that was set to release in China.

The first edition/version of PUBG Mobile was called PUBG: Exhilarating Battlefield. It was an abridged version of PlayerUnknown’s Battleground PC. Also, the game was developed by Tencent Games internal division LightSpeed & Quantum Studio.

PUBG Mobile 1.1 Beta version

The second version of PUBG Mobile was called PUBG: Army Attack. It was an arcady version of the original game meant for casual players. PUBG: Army Attack was developed by Tencent’s Timi Studio. PUBG: Exhilarating Battlefield and PUBG: Army Attack were the very first two versions that released on February 9, 2018, for Android and iOS devices.

Later, an English version of PUBG: Exhilarating Battlefield “PUBG Mobile” was released worldwide March 19, 2018.

Tencent Games tried to launch PUBG Mobile in China, though the government approval was at a halt. So, Tencent decided to re-release the PUBG Mobile under the title, Game for Peace that readily meets China’s content restrictions, such as eliminating blood and gore.

A year later PUBG Mobile Lite was released on July 25, 2019, for Android and iOS devices. PUBG Mobile looked phenomenal on mobile devices. However, the game required a lot of resources to run the game. So, PUBG Mobile bridged the gap for players who couldn’t afford high end mobile devices.

Most Recently, the developers announced a high FPS support exclusive to OnePlus devices in August 2020.
