The ancient Rome setting hasn’t been used much in video games, definitely not as much as the typical Medieval setting. Which is a shame, since gladiator battles can definitely be an engaging experience if well developed.
A new game starring gladiators fighting to the death has been recently announced for PC as well as for iOS devices. Enterchained, developed by Featherweight Games, not only features gladiators but also an interesting gameplay experience that plays on the fact that most gladiators were slaves.
In Enterchained players will be controlling two gladiators attached to each other by a large chain. Instead of rushing toward the enemies, players would do well in using the chain to their advantage. This will definitely lead to some interesting gameplay sequences.
Enterchained will also feature extra characters and weapons, as well as a mutliplayer mode that looks very interesting, as players will have to coordinate their movements and actions. Unfortunately the iOS version will only be single player due to the obvious limitations of the format. Creating the controls will also be tricky for the iOS version, as they will need to be incredibly precise for this kind of gameplay experience.
Enterchained will be released on a yet to be confirmed date on the App Store. We’ll let you know more about the matter as soon as possible so stay tuned for more.
