Yae Guuji is one of the new yet familiar faces that we saw at the end of the Genshin Impact 1.5 Livestream. The name Yae Guuji has also appeared before on 2020’s New Year tweet by Genshin Impact’s official Twitter handle. However, this time around, seeing Yae Guuji for the first time was nostalgic. She looks similar to Yae Sakura, a playable character from miHoYo’s previous gacha game – Honkai Impact The Third.
Everything to know about Yae Guuji
As per the current information, Yae Guuji’s full name is Yae Shintze. Meanwhile, Guuji is a Japanese term that means Chief Priestess. And Yae is the last name. So the complete English translation of Yae Guuji is “Chief Priestess Yae.”
That aside, Yae Shintze is from the Yae family of Inazuma. She serves as the Chief Priestess of the Grand Narukami Shrine. She shares the same family name as Yae Sakura from Honkai Impact. Not only that, during the Livestream, Zhongli often referred to Yae Guuji as “fox”, which is yet another reference to Yae Sakura.
For players who haven’t played Honkai Impact, Yae Sakura was a Miko(Shrine Maiden). Like this, there are many similarities between Yae Sakura and Yae Guuji. Here are some of them –
- Yae Sakura’s Stigmata looks similar to the Inazuma region, Electro Archon emblem.
- The two share the same characters for their surname, Yae.
- They are both associated with a shrine.
- Yae Sakura is of Japanese origin, and Inazuma is Japanese-themed.
- Both Yae Guuji and Yae Sakura are voiced by Du Mingya in Chinese.
- Yae Guuji and Yae Sakura share a somewhat similar appearance. They both have long pink hair and purple eyes.
That’s it for now. Do you have any information on Yae Guuji that we missed in our article? If Yes, then mention it in the comments below. Apart from that, check out our coverage on Genshin Impact 1.5 Livestream to get a complete overview of the game’s upcoming version 1.5 update.
