Becoming a psychiatrist is one of the easier medical jobs to get in the game, but it still requires a bit of prep. We’ll walk you through all the steps in our BitLife guide on how to become a psychiatrist!

Early Life

You’ll want to start your character off with naturally good smarts. It doesn’t matter if you’re male or female, so go ahead and choose whatever you like. You can also start anywhere in the world.

During your early years, you’ll want to be good to your friends and family. Stay in school to get good grades, because you’ll be able to have two ways of getting into higher education for free.

It doesn’t really matter what you do in middle and high school so as long as you continue to keep your grades up and stay out of trouble. If you want to be extra safe, you can get a part-time job now to save up some money for medical school.

Becoming a Psychiatrist

Once you graduate high school, it’s time to go to college. Go to a regular university at first, and apply for a scholarship. If you’ve been good in school up until now, then you should be able to get a scholarship with no problems. Choose Psychology as your major when you’re applying for college.

After four years of regular college, it’s time to seek higher education. Apply for medical school, but this time it might be a little harder to get a scholarship. You can take a couple of years off to find a job and build up some money if you need to.

Once you’re out of medical school, it’s time to become a bona fide psychiatrist. Check the job listings and look for a Jr Psychiatrist position. This is the entry level psychiatrist job, and you should have all the qualifications you need to apply. Just nail the interview and that’s it – you’re officially a psychiatrist!
