Mario Golf: Super Rush

How to Beat the Great Trials in Mario Golf: Super Rush

Mario Golf: Super Rush Adventure mode is the big single-player mode that not only teaches you the game’s basics but also lets you create and customize your own Mii character so to be able to take on a variety of challenges, including some intense boss battles.

Here’s how to complete one of these challenges, the Great Trials.

How to Start the Great Trials

The Great Trials are three different challenges that will put your Mario Golf Super Rush skills to the test. To access them, you will need to proceed through Adventure Mode until you reach Wildweather Woods. After practicing Speed Golf, you will be tasked with traveling to different locations to learn about Lob Shots.

Once this is done, you will be told to visit the statue in Wildweather Woods. Right before getting to the statue, you will meet Wario and Waluigi. Once they leave, having not been able to clear the Trails, you will be able to take them on yourself.

Great Trial I – The Trial of Distance

The first Great Trial is all about the distance you can cover with a single shot. To complete this challenge, you will have to land three consecutive shots in the areas marked on the ground. If you miss even just one of them, you will have to start over from the beginning.

This trial can be a little challenging if your character doesn’t have a high enough Power stat or if you do not have the right golf club equipped. Generally, you want to switch to different clubs depending on the distance you want to cover, making sure to equip the club with the longest range for the final shot. The Super Mushroom Driver is an excellent choice that will make your life much easier.

Great Trial II – The Trial of Loft

This Trial is considerably harder than the first one, as you will have to land three shots in the marked areas on the ground that are located right past some rising water. If you miss a single shot, you will have to start over from the beginning.

To succeed at this trial, you will need to perform Lob Shots properly, as, without them, it is impossible to hit all three shots consecutively. Also, make sure to equip the Lob Wedge.

Great Trial III – The Trial of Timing

The third Trial is, effectively, a boss battle against the statue you have interacted with at the start of the Trials. To win this Trial, you will have to deflect the statue’s lightning attack three times.

Doing so is considerably easier than what it looks like at first glance. As the statue is preparing its attack, you will see a purple zone appear on the ground. Move away from it to avoid the attack.

Once this is done, you will see some dirt patches on the ground. You need to step on any of them, and ready your shot. At this point, a duff gauge will appear on the screen: press the A button as the two circles intersect to time your shot right and deflect the lightning attack. Do this three times and you will win.

Rewards

By clearing the third and final Trial, you will obtain the Thunder Sword. Additionally, you will also get the chance of obtaining the Fire Gem in the Treasure Corner. As you get the Gem, however, you will have to fight against the Sacred Flamebeast, another powerful boss.
