Out of the blue, without any prior announcements and media blasts, Activision decided to release an official Call of Duty game for iOS powered devices: Call of Duty: Strike Team. And after a quick first look, it appears that Call of Duty: Strike Team is indeed a pretty solid shooter for the iPhone or iPad.

Although it seems that the game has no multiplayer yet, it does feature a full single player campaign and a survival mode where you compete for a top leaderboard spot against your friends shooting down waves after waves of increasingly more difficult enemies.

There are some interesting feature too, like the ability to dynamically switch from run-and-gun first-person view to reconnaissance and coordinated squad attacks in third-person view which turns the FPS into a… strategy game? Ha! I lived to see this happening! You can also fully customize your squad’s loadouts and abilities before leading them into combat in diverse gameplay environments.

The Call of Duty game for iOS comes for a fair price too: $6.99 and you can purchase it right now from iTunes. Have in mind that the game is ONLY compatible with and optimized for iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad mini, iPad 2, iPad (3rd generation), iPad (4th generation), and iPod touch (5th generation).
