Despite being on some very serious business, Link can take some time off during the course of his adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD to play a selection of mini-games. Playing them is not exactly wasting time, however, as you can get tons of rewards that can make your life easier during the main quest.
Here’s everything you need to know to play the Thrill Digger mini-game in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD.
How to Play Thrill Digger in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD
To play the Thrill Digger mini-game, you need to get to Eldin Volcano first. Explore the area until you reach the area with the Bokoblin Camp to locate a cave whose entrance can be blasted away by a bomb. Inside, you will find a Mogma called Tubert, who will invite you to play the mini-game.
Thrill Digger Rules
If you have played the classic Minesweeper game, then you already know how to play Thrill Digger in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD. In this mini-game, Link will have to dig out all the Rupees with the Digging Mitts without digging a single bomb. The size of the playfield changes depending on the difficulty: Beginner difficult features a 4×5 squares field; Intermediate a 5×6 squares field; Expert features a 5×8 squares field. The bigger the field, the higher are the chances of digging a bomb, so beware. Higher difficulties also feature Rupoors, black Rupees that deduct 10 Rupees from your total, but that do not end the game once dug out.
How to Win at Thrill Digger
To win at Thrill Digger, you need to learn how to use the Rupees as indicators. Generally, higher-value Rupees are found closer to bombs, so avoid digging spots surrounding these Rupees. If you dig up a Green Rupee, however, you can safely dig around, as no bombs can appear near them.
Rewards
Alongside the number of Rupees you dig out yourself while playing the game, Thrill Digger also provides other additional rewards like the Goddess Plume, Golden Skull, and Blue Bird Feather.
