Idle Magic School is an idle management game where play as the dean of a budding school for wizards. Running a magical school is not for the faint of heart, so our Idle Magic School tips and tricks strategy guide can show you how to run a top-notch school.
Tip #1: Follow the Main Tasks
Idle Magic School is a fairly straightforward game—generate gold over time, spend that gold so that you can make more gold faster, and rinse and repeat. It’s fairly obvious what you should be investing in early on, but as you unlock more rooms of the school, you might get a bit lost.
Never fear, as that’s what the main tasks are for, located in the bottom left corner of the screen. These tasks lead you down the general progression route, and as long as you’re following them, you don’t have to worry about your school falling behind.
What’s even better is that you’re rewarded for completing each task, and many of them reward you with Miscarcand, the premium currency of the game. You’ll need Miscarcand for purchasing important upgrades for the school.
Tip #2: Activate the Random Events
Occasionally, a little banner at the top left corner of the screen appears. These are random events that reward active playing, and they’re an easy way to get more resources. Be sure to tap on the banner before it goes away, as it won’t stick around forever.
The most common random event is the Daily Prophecy. Tap on it, and you’ll be taken to the a fortune teller who will read your fortune. You are then presented with three options, each rewarding you with a different kind of currency.
Unless you really need the gold right away, we always recommend going with the second option, which rewards you with Miscarcand, the premium currency of the game. They’re the little orange tokens you get for completing certain tasks.
The other random events are Monster Invasion and College Exchange. You can potentially earn tons of gold from these events, but it’s dependent on your school’s combat power or glory, respectively. If you watch an ad, you’ll get even more gold.
Tip #3: How to make more Gold
Each class has three attributes that you can improve: the class itself, the amount of seats, and the amount of time it takes for a lesson to finish. The more you invest into a class, the more gold it’ll make for you.
The class’s tuition increases when you level it up, earning more gold. However, the difficulty of the class also goes up, which can make the class harder for younger wizards. Make sure not to level up a class too high too fast.
The amount of seats determines how many wizards can sit in on a session, and the lesson time determines how long it takes for a lesson to complete. Both of these attributes can get wizards in and out faster, so upgrade them as you see fit.
So, which ones should you upgrade first? That depends, as you’ll need to study your school’s efficiency to see where you can improve. On the main menu, tap on the notepad with the pencil at the top right corner of the screen, then go to the data tab.
The data screen gives you a complete overview of how your school is doing. You can see the raw numbers and stats here, but the most important thing to look out for are the thumbs up and thumbs down icons. The green thumbs up denotes your most profitable and efficient class, while the red thumbs down is your worst performing class.
Whichever class has the red thumbs down is the one that you should focus on upgrading first. Having a steady stream of income means having your classes all be balanced, so you’ll need to bring the offending class up to speed.
Also, keep an eye on the stats at the top of the screen. You don’t want too many wizard waiting around in lines, as this will make them eventually storm out of the school. Consider upgrading your desk attendants to speed up registration.
Tip #4: Check on your Fountain of Life often
The Fountain of Life is a beautiful fountain that greets wizards as soon as they step onto school grounds. Not only is it beautiful, but it serves a practical purpose, as well; the Fountain of Life generates a special resource called Holy Water over time.
Holy Water can be spent at the Department of Mysteries, which is accessed by the globe icon at the bottom right corner. You can spend the Holy Water on permanent bonuses that affect different aspects of your school. For example, you can make registration fees give you more gold, or make wizards move around faster.
These upgrades are very helpful, so make sure to check in occasionally to collect your Holy Water. At the start of the game, the Fountain of Life’s maximum capacity is 100 Holy Water, which only takes a few minutes to fill up.
You’ll eventually be able to increase the Fountain of Life’s capacity so that you don’t have to check in as frequently, but in the mean time, make sure to stay on it.
Tip #5: Best Things to Spend Miscarcand on
As we mentioned, the little orange tokens are Miscarcand, the premium currency of the game. You can get a slow but steady supply of them as long as you pay attention to the random events.
There’s a variety of stuff you can spend your hard-earned Miscarcand on, but what are the best things to use it for? Ultimately, it’s up to you, as there are no right or wrong answers. Try to see what your school is the weakest in, and go from there.
If you need a recommendation, upgrading the Fountain of Life is always a good choice. Every time you upgrade it, its Holy Water capacity and production speed goes up. Those permanent bonuses in the Department of Mysteries are too good to pass up.
Some other recommendations include:
- The Office teachers can boost the learning success rate and course fee of a specific class.
- Each class can unlock a special item that increases tuition and training success rate.
