Get caught in the twisty jungle of Twisted Tangle, a casual puzzle game where players are must unravel a 3D puzzle full of tangled ropes. Twisted Tangle is easy to pick up but hard to master, so we’ve got some tips for you in our Twisted Tangle strategy guide.
Tip #1: Take your Time and Plan your Moves
Every level of Twisted Tangle starts out by showing your board, the tangles, and your allotted time. You only have a limited amount of time before you fail the stage, so you need to work quickly.
Here’s a little trick: The level timer doesn’t start until you make the first move. That means you can start a level, then just study the board and plan your moves accordingly without having to waste any time.
It’s best to get into the habit of not making random moves as soon as the level starts, and instead just take your time and create a plan of attack.
Even as you’re working through the tangles and the timer is already going, try not to let it get to you. If you’re feeling the pressure, you’re more likely to make random, panicked moves, so stay focused!
Tip #2: Focus on Individual Tangles
More often than not, the board is filled with sectioned tangles. What does this mean exactly? Well, there are usually multiple tangles in a level that you have to solve, but they’re spaced out around the board.
A good habit to practice is to focus on individual tangles instead of trying to solve the entire board all at once. The best way to make the tangles easier to manage is to eliminate as many ropes as you can, which means untangling the core ropes.
To understand this concept more, take a look at level 31’s layout, as an example:
You can see a clearly defined divide between the individual tangles. There’s one up top, and one below, so the best course of action would to focus on untangling on one tangle, but not both at the same time.
Even when the tangles aren’t clearly defined like the example above, almost every level is still structured like this; you just have to look harder in some instances.
Tip #3: Best Things to Spend Gold on and How to Earn More
Gold is the main currency of Twisted Tangle. You’ll earn a little bit every time to complete a level, and sometimes you’ll be presented with the opportunity to watch an ad to double your rewards. If you’ve got the time, we recommend doing so.
In addition to completing levels, sometimes you’ll automatically enter a race, where you complete with other players to finish as many levels in the allotted time as you can. These races just show up at random, and if you have the time, try to get first place if you can, because you’re awarded with lots of gold.
So what can you do with all this gold? In the Collection menu, you can use gold to purchase cosmetics that customize your experience. You can get fun and colorful ropes, pins, and backs. They don’t do anything gameplay-wise, but they’re fun to look at, of course!
If you prefer a more practical way to spend your hard-earned gold, you can save it for boosters that you can use during levels. During the early levels, you’re given some free boosters to help you out, but if you run out, you’ll have to buy more with gold.
A single booster is really expensive, usually somewhere around 1,000 gold, so if you want to focus on completing levels, it’s best to save all your gold for buying boosters.
Tip #4: Save your Boosters for Hard Levels
As you progress through the game, you’ll notice that some of the upcoming levels are marked at hard or very hard. Don’t ignore these titles, as these levels are legitimately challenging, and might take you several tries to complete.
To give you best chance of beating a hard level, it’s important that you save up as many boosters as you can. It may be tempting to use boosters whenever you’re in a jam, but it’s good practice to not spend them on regular levels.
