The Super Smash Bros. series has become in recent years a celebration of gaming as a whole, featuring characters from series that are not developed directly by Nintendo. Many have been asking for this celebration to go even beyond the gaming world by introducing popular characters from comics and movies, and among the most requested characters are Marvel comics characters. While it seems like this won’t be happening anytime soon, it seems like the door is somewhat open for the possibility.
Speaking with Game Informer, Marvel Games’ VP and creative director Bill Rosemann was asked about the matter. While he obviously can’t say that something like this will happen, he did mention that he would love seeing it happen and that it could happen, but he is not the one taking the decisions.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate recently received its first DLC character, Joker from Persona 5, who has been taken from a game that is not available on Nintendo Switch. Four more characters are coming, so fans are holding out hope that popular choices like Son Goku from Dragon Ball and others may be among them.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now available in all regions on Nintendo Switch. The next big Marvel Comics game is Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, which is releasing soon on Nintendo Switch as well.
