Persona 4 Arena Ultimax play modes are divided into four different groups – Story, Battle, Network, and Practice.

  • Inside the Story group, you will find the game’s main story modes which are basically visual novel play modes with some battles here and there. After completing the two stories to 100%, you will unlock a third one that serves as the game’s true ending.
  • Inside the Battle group, you will find multiple single player modes, such as Arcade Mode, which features an abridged version of the story seen in the Story Modes, Score Attack Mode, which challenges you with getting the highest score in a series of eight fights, Golden Arena Mode, a play mode featuring role-playing game mechanics, and Versus Mode, a local multiplayer mode where it’s also possible to fight against CPU opponents.
  • Inside the Network group, you will find two online multiplayer modes – Ranked Match and the more relaxed Player Match modes that allow you to fight against human opponents online. Put your skills to the test and aim for the top of the rankings!
  • Inside the Practice group, you will find play modes that allow you to learn the game’s mechanics, such as Lesson Mode, your regular Training Mode featuring tons of options tailored for training and Challenge Mode, an excellent play modes that teaches you the most complex combos for all playable characters.
