All Shiny Locked Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Arceus Listed

Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released last month after much fanfare and hype. It is the latest instalment in the Pokémon series and takes a much different turn than its predecessors do in terms of storytelling and game mechanics.

The game takes place in the ancient Hisui region, which would become modern-day Sinnoh eventually. Fighting and capturing Pokémon is drastically different with battles taking place on the overworld instead of turn-based instance battles as was the staple of the series thus far.

Shiny Pokémon being one of the staples of the game since Generation 2 also make their return in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Shiny Pokémon

Shiny Pokémon are re-colored variations of their normal counterparts, without any changes to base stats or stat growth. They are highly coveted by trainers and collectors alike due to their rarity.

The base rate of encountering a Shiny Pokémon is 1/4096! Even though the odds increase a lot with the Shiny Charm and utilizing Mass Outbreaks to their fullest potential, they are still comparatively pretty low.

But once the player encounters a Shiny Pokémon with the sparkling video and audio cues, the sense of satisfaction is euphoric! But can you acquire all of the Shiny Pokémon of the 242 in Pokémon Legends: Arceus? Unfortunately no, because some of them are Shiny-locked in this game.

Shiny-locked Pokémon

There are certain Pokémon that are Shiny-locked in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. What this means is that no matter how much the player tries to increase Shiny odds, they will never encounter a Shiny version of these Pokémon:

  • Dialga
  • Palkia
  • Darkrai (Special Event)
  • Manaphy (Special Event)
  • Rowlett
  • Cyndaquil
  • Oshawott

Although the last three Pokémon are Starter Pokémon, there is a way to access their Shiny variations at a certain point in the game. Happy Shiny hunting!
