Pokémon Masters is a mobile game running on Android and iOS. Unlike other Pokémon games in the franchise, Pokémon Masters plays very differently.
The gameplay revolves around 3v3 battles unlike Pokémon’s default format of 1v1 turn-based switch battling. Due to this, players have to pick 3 Pokémon that have the best synergy with each other for best results. Stats generally mean a lot more than normal Pokémon games and variety is definitely an important key to victory!
Talking about the Pokémon in Pokémon Masters, initially, the game only let players have Pikachu as their starter Pokémon, but times have now changed.
Starter Pokémon
Pokémon Masters pushed out a major update to include Eggs and a new Pokémon for players to collect.
In this game, the three Kanto region Starter Pokémon are available through Eggs in Pokémon Masters but, just like in the mainline Pokémon games, players can only select one. DeNA also confirmed that more Eggs will be added at another time.
Which Starter Pokémon Should You Choose?
There are currently three Starter Pokémon available in Pokémon Masters EX:
- Bulbasaur, the Grass/Poison-type Pokémon
- Charmander, the Fire-type(eventually Fire/Flying-type) Pokémon
- Squirtle, the Water-type Pokémon
All three starter Pokémon have the same final move called “Race You.” This status move will increase the speed and critical hit ratio of the Pokémon that uses it.
Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle also have the same ability in “Power Reserves 2,” which increases the attack power of a trainer’s Pokémon if their HP is below half. With all of these changes and equivalent distribution of power between the three Starter Pokémon, it falls on the player to choose which one suits them best, especially when paired up with the other Sync teams later on.
